Introduction to Censorship

Censorship is one of the most highly controversial topics in Australia, as it is in many other countries. If you've just tuned in and need a quick overview of what censorship is, then I will briefly jog your memory or if you've never heard of the term, I will inform you.

According to the Encarta Dictionary, censorship is the suppression of something regarded as objectionable, whether it be a quote from a movie, lines written in a book, or even graphics on a computer game.
Censorship is a rather broad term and can cover many subjects, the main ones in today's society being film/television, the internet, games and music.

I have to admit the whole concept of what we consider distasteful and vulgar nowadays is just so petty, why are we focusing so much on censoring a little blood within video games when we could be censoring most crap we find on the internet. You see so many indecent photos on the internet for all internet users to view, whether they be children or other sensitive individuals who don't know any better. Even if it is as innocent as browsing through photos in Google, you sometimes stumble upon something so disgusting, that you just have to report.

Although, with popular websites such as Google, they filter their website regularly so you don't get much indecency when surfing the web!

This is just the beginning of my blog, and me trying to briefly outline what I will be discussing in future posts, I hope you find some interest in the subject, because I know I have a lot to say on the issue!

Stay tuned for more posts!
